With seven stones up top, a pavé band would be competing with the flower rather than carrying it. It was first found in a meteorite crater, and the stones used in jewellery today are grown in a laboratory because natural moissanite is far too rare to set.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp dir=\"ltr\"\u003eTwo properties matter. It is \u003cstrong\u003e9.25 on the Mohs scale\u003c\/strong\u003e, harder than any gemstone except diamond, which is why it survives daily wear without the chipping that softer stones suffer. And its \u003cstrong\u003edispersion is roughly two and a half times that of diamond\u003c\/strong\u003e — it splits white light into visible spectral colour far more strongly.
