Ring Size Guide

Getting this right first time saves you two weeks. Read the whole page — it is short.

The reliable method

Take a ring she already wears on the correct finger to any jeweller and have it measured. This is the only method that is accurate every time. It costs nothing and takes two minutes.

If you cannot do that

Measure a ring you already own:

  1. Lay the ring flat
  2. Measure the inside diameter, edge to edge, in millimetres
  3. Send us that number

Or measure the finger:

  1. Cut a strip of paper about 5mm wide
  2. Wrap it snugly around the base of the finger
  3. Mark where it overlaps
  4. Lay it flat and measure to the mark in millimetres — that is the circumference

Send us either number and we convert it.

Common sizes

Circumference Diameter Size (US)
49.3 mm 15.7 mm 5
51.9 mm 16.5 mm 6
54.4 mm 17.3 mm 7
57.0 mm 18.1 mm 8
59.5 mm 18.9 mm 9
62.1 mm 19.8 mm 10

Things that will trip you up

  • Time of day. Fingers are smallest in the morning and in cold weather, largest in the evening and in Karachi summer. Measure at the end of a normal day.
  • The knuckle. If your knuckle is much wider than the base of your finger, size up — the ring has to get past it.
  • Band width. A wide band feels tighter than a thin one at the same size. For anything over 6mm, go up a quarter to a half size.
  • Hands differ. Your dominant hand is usually half a size larger.

Buying a surprise gift

Borrow a ring she wears on that finger and bring it in, or take a photograph of it next to a ruler. If you genuinely cannot, order a common size — 6 or 7 for most women — and use the free resize. We would rather resize once than have you guess badly.

Free resizing

One free resize within 30 days of delivery. Eternity bands and some tension settings cannot be resized far without weakening them; we will tell you the limit honestly rather than damage your piece.
